Usage of Google Voice application barred from iTunes store by Apple

Google Voice, the hot and new software was declined to iPhone users on Tuesday by Apple Inc.  The Google software was facilitating cheap international calls, as it can consolidate multiple telephone numbers into once voice mail account and transcriptions of the voice messages can be emailed too.

The electronic giant of California, The Cupertino, refused permission for Google in distributing Google Voice application on iTunes, thereby shutting out users of iPhones from availing the software service, which was long awaited by them.

Apple Inc. refused to comment on this, which has created much hue and cry in blogs. “Control freak tendencies” is the comment from Computer Magazine PC World; TechCrunch, a popular blog described Apple’s action as “rotten to the core”.

Analysts point out that Apple’s action is to protect the interests of its business partner AT&T, as this will mean an encroachment by competitors and loss of revenue by using Google Voice, to bypass their services of calling as well as text messaging.

Two weeks ago, Mountain View – California based Google relaunched Google Voice, which technology was bought in 2007 when acquiring GrandCentral, a start-up. The service was restricted to those invited by Google for trying out the service and the earlier GrandCentral subscribers.

According to Google spokespersons, they are trying hard to provide Google Voice to iPhone users by taking advantage of mobile browsers. The software functions on a mobile device not requiring a Wi-Fi connection like Skype.

Google Voice users can take mileage from its cost reduction, compared to AT &T and this is what behind the motive of Apple Inc. in curtailing the use of it by iPhone users, exclusively granted to AT &T in USA.
