Bloomberg News reported that the American Association for Cancer Research meeting included recent research revealing presence of high levels of 2 chemicals in smokers’ urine which correlate with their chances of suffering from lung cancer. As compared to subjects with lower levels of the two chemicals, those with high levels of the byproducts of tobacco smoke had 8.5 times the risk of developing lung cancer. General public does not have access to this test till now, with researchers estimating the time needed to make it commercially available to be at least three to five years.
Improving overall health is best done through total quitting of smoking.

For instance, some women may benefit from calcium and vitamin D for eliminating PMS symptoms. That doesn’t mean it’s a pice of cake, as claimed by the advertisements. Women who include milk as part of their daily diet must choose low-fat or skim varieties. One study has concluded that higher rate of PMS may be associated with intake of whole milk.

3. No COBRA Assistance for Retrenched Employees of Small Companies

In recent times, the economic stimulus package introduced in February included a COBRA subsidy that gives 65 percent of COBRA premiums, for nine months, to employees laid off during the time period of September 2008 and end of this year. The important point here is that the subsidy applies to workers laid off from firms with 20 or more workers only. Those who do not fall in that category are left to rely on state laws to know whether they are eligible for the subsidy or not.
