Movie Review De Dana Dan

Director Priyadharshan must have got the inspiration from his “Hera Pheri” to continue comedy films and so it seems from his latest movie “De Dana Dan”. This multi-starrer is full with scenes of slapstick comedy, having bigwigs like Akshay Kumar; Sunil Shetty; Katrina Kaif; Sameera Reddy and Paresh Rawal.

It is a pity that the talents of many artists have been wasted, particularly Akshay Kumar in the second part. So also the comic scenes – instead of making people laugh by situations, the director with noteworthy talent has resorted to slapstick.

The story line gives much scope for comedy situations. Two lads Nitin Bankar (Akshay Kumar) and Ram Mishra (Sunil Shetty) land in Singapore in search of greener pastures. Nithin becomes a righthand of an industrialist and Ram becomes a courier delivery man. As usual both lads fall in love with beautiful girls (how always these film heroes get them) – Anjali (Katrina Kaif), the girl-friend of Nitin helps him. Ram falls for a wealthy Manpreet Oberoi (Sameera Reddy) and the marriage is opposed (it would have been a big comedy if they had agreed) by her parents – reason status.

Harbans Chadda (Paresh Rawal) enters and makes all sorts of villainy planning. The boys plan to kidnap a VIP and make money. What follows with a lot of confusions and comic activities is the rest of the story.

Music by Pritam is not upto the mark and cinematographer K. Ahambaram has no scope, for the film goes around indoors in a hotel mostly. With the subdued performance of almost every one, for want of emotional scenes and just to satisfy the entertainment need of the audience, the film can not be rated high. But box office will see many fans of Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty, as well as the beauty of Katrina and new Sameera Reddy.
