Modern-Day “Swayamvar” of Rakhi Sawant ends in a fitting finale
Reviving the memories of Indian Kingdoms such as Rani Samyuktha and Prithviraj, Indian viewers of the reality TV Show were watching the “Swayamvar” of popular item girl Rakhi Sawant in NDTV telecast – Imagine’s “Rakhi ka Swayamvar”.
Out of the three finalists – Manas Katyal; businessman Chhitiz Jain – both of them from Delhi; and the Toronto-based Elesh Parujanwala, Rakhi garlanded Elesh as her final choice, in front of millions of fans watching the show late Sunday.
The list of aspirants flooding in thousands from all over the world, when the Show started with the announcement of Rakhi Sawant to select her life-partner from out of the contestants, was narrowed down to 16 in 26 episodes, wherefrom the last three finalists emerged.
Rakhi Sawant garlanded Elesh amidst cheering applause from the audience. She said she has found her life-partner through this Swayamwar. For selecting Elesh she reasoned out that she has been watching him from day one and on and off the camera Elesh has been the same person to really take care of her. She was pleased that he is everything she was looking for and she is glad to find him through the Swaymvar.
Rakhi announced on the occasion of engagement taking place before the audience that even though she is ready to get married at once, she wanted time to understand each other off the camera for some more time. One of these days she assured to marry her selected groom in front of all of the audience.
On the occasion Rakhi appeared a perfect bride in the costume – red and gold lethenga Choli by Neeta Lulla and kundan jewellery.
The finalists in the contest – Elesh, Manas and Chhitiz also were in traditional sherwanis and turbans – fitting dress for the occasion.
The gala event of “Swayamvar” went off well at Hotel Leela Kampinsky on Sunday, where a host of celebrities graced the occasion – including choreographer Saroj Khan; actors Ram Kapoor and Ravi Kishen posing as brothers to the bride; and in the audience Smith Bansal and Sudha Shivpuri.
