Microsoft launches their new Windows 7 version
The world’s largest software company, Microsoft Corporation, has launched on Thursday their new operating system – Windows 7. It has been more than a decade since Microsoft released their earlier version, apart from Windows Vista, which is disappointing in that it has failed to get the expected response from corporate businesses, where the chunk of the profits lie in the PC market.
The new Global release has already received good reviews from test users and it is earnestly hoped by the software giant, which powers over 90 per cent of personal computers worldwide, that they can grab back the business opportunities from their rivals Google Inc. and Apple Inc.
Windows Vista’s complexity in usage frustrated many users of home PC and for the same reason turned off the enthusiasm among business customers. So Microsoft has been very careful this time to mould the new system – Microsoft Windows 7 – which is less cluttered; faster in speed and built-in with new touch-screen features.
The Chief Executive of Microsoft Corp., Steve Ballmer, confessed among the audience of customers and partners during the release in Toronto on Wednesday, that the success of the new Windows operating system is important to their company, to revive the company’s image and he would go that extra mile to make sales calls himself on Windows 7.
Regarding price, it appears that the new OS will cost lesser than Vista, as Microsoft is charging $199.99 for the Home Premium version of Windows 7 and $119.99 for existing users to upgrade their system. Shoppers will be able to purchase for the first time, PCS loaded with this new software direct from a Microsoft store.
Experts in the field are of the opinion that the success rate of the new system with business-to-business market place will be known only by June next year.
