Cinema: New Releases
ROCK ON! ***1/2
Directed by: Abhishek Kapoor
Cast: Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Prachi Desai
Drama: The flick is generating huge interest because of three things – Farhan’s acting debut, TV bahu Prachi’s makeover and, since it’s a movie about rock band, its music. Four pals put together the greatest band India’s ever seen, but never make it. Years later, they get back together to start where they left off.
Directed by: Andrew Santon, Voices: Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin, Fred Willard
Animation: Andrew Stanton of Finding Nemo fame transports moviegoers to a galaxy not so very far away to tell us the adventures of a determined robot named WALL E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth Class). A must-watch!
Directed by: Kabeer Kaushik
Cast: Bobby Deol, Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Riteish Deshmukh
Drama: After seeing the promos, one isn’t exactly keen to hear Naxalite Chandramohan Singh urf Chamku (Bobby) saga! Political assassinations, intrigues, and an epic vendetta mark the film. But with a very slate-looking Priyanka, the movie has as much charm as yesterday’s leftovers.
Directed by: Timur Bekmambetow
Cast: McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Terence Stamp
Action: Apathetic nobody Wes Gibson’s (James) life is transformed when he meets the sexy Fox (Angie, who else?) As he finds out that his estranged father is murdered, Fox recruits him into The Fraternity, a secret cult that trains him to avenge his father’s death, by unlocking his dormant powers. Zero se hero?
C Kkompany

Directed by: Sachin Yardi
Cast: Tusshar Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Rajpal Yadav, Raima Sen, Mithun Chakrabarty
Comedy: From sis Ekta to bro Tusshy, with love! A classic case of mistaken identities, three pals – crime reporter Akshay (Tusshar), retired accountant Mr Joshi (Anupam Kher) and Lambodar (Rajpal) – play a harmless prank to make quick moolah. But the incident becomes BIG news. And they get famous as C Company. The three start cashing in on the fame, but only to realize that they have bitten off more than they can chew.
Directed by: Mani Shankar
Cast: Sameer Dattani, Sunil Shetty, Raima Sen, Om Puri, Rahul Dev
Drama: the movie was earlier stalled; the producers decided it needed a music video to boost its box office potential. (Well, with Sameer in the lead, they do need all the help!) A spy flick, the film revolves around a young man, a spy who lives different lives.
