Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets – Hyden and Badrinath take the center stage in batting

09-05-09: Mathew Hyden opined in an after-match Interview that the trick in 20/20 is minimizing risks and maximizing your efforts to win matches. Exactly that’s what both he and S. Badrinath did in the battle between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals on Friday.  Chasing a meek total of 141 to win, CSK batsmen played the game cautiously at first and exploded at the appropriate time. Hyden added 48 more runs to his talley to make it 426 (the highest) in IPL Games 2. S. Badrinath was not out at 59 when the team won – making best use of his bat to strike 9 fours and 1 six.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and elected to bat. CSK bowlers Shadab Jakati, Muthaiah Muralidharan and L. Balaji restricted them squarely from batting freely. Greame Smith was the only batsman to score the highest – 30 runs and the rest of the team failed miserably to end with a total of 140/7 at the close.

Badrinath was the Man of the Match for his superb batting.
