“Cheers to a new year and another chance
for us to get it right.” – Oprah Winfrey

“The only way to spend New Year’s Eve is
either quietly with friends or in a
brothel. Otherwise when the evening ends
and people pair off, someone is bound to
be left in tears. ” – W.H. Auden

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012

“Another fresh new year is here .
. .
Another year to live!
To banish worry, doubt, and fear,
To love and laugh and give!

This bright new year is given me
To live each day with zest . . .
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best!

I have the opportunity
Once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree,
And sing more joyful songs!”
William Arthur Ward quotes (American
dedicated scholar, author, editor,
pastor and teacher)

One resolution I have made, and try
always to keep, is this: To rise above
the little things. ~John Burroughs

Of all sound of all bells… most solemn
and touching is the peal which rings out
the Old Year. ~Charles Lamb

“An optimist stays up until
midnight to see the new year in. A
pessimist stays up to make sure the old
year leaves.”
Bill Vaughn quotes (American industry
author, mentor and subject-matter
expert)

“Be at war with your vices; at peace with
your neighbors, and let every new year
find you a better man.”
Benjamin Franklin

“It wouldn’t be New Year’s if I didn’t
have regrets.”
William Thomas

“I’m a little bit older, a little bit
wiser, a little bit rounder, but still
none the wiser.”
Robert Paul

“Drop the last year into the silent limbo
of the past. Let it go, for it was
imperfect, and thank God that it can go.”
Brooks Atkinson

“New Year’s Resolution: To tolerate fools
more gladly, provided this does not
encourage them to take up more of my
time.” – James Agate

“The Old Year has gone. Let the dead past
bury its own dead. The New Year has
taken possession of the clock of time.
All hail the duties and possibilities of
the coming twelve months!” – Edward Payson Powell

chak-chak-chak-chak-chak-chak-chak-

pak-pak-pak-pak-pak-pak-pak-

The story of an evil man turn into godly man by the power of love is the basic message of RAAVAN. Although the story is inspired by the Ramayana epic, this time, it’s the demon who is under the spotlight. There is no balance of Ram and Raavan, indeed the story is a bit heavy to Raavan’s side. And the audiences agree that the hero is Beera, not Dev.

However, the story line has several long pauses which are considered ‘lack’ professional. If Mani Ratnam could keep the story line moving forward or filling it with meaningful scenes rather than ‘pause’, then it might be a perfect delicious masterpiece.

Overall, the Abhishek and Aishwarya’s performance was stunning, the masculine macho character faced with conscience and beauty. The ultimate contrast of their world, characteristic and belief is finally bound by love. But Vikram was less in expression which is quite disappointing. Govinda and other supporting artists did a great job. The touch of AR Rahman’s songs was also the best part of the film. His “Beera Beera”, “Ranjha Ranjha”, and “Behne De” are believed to be lifetime hits.

Beside offering the stunning actions and songs, RAAVAN also pictures the beauty of nature. The intimidating jungle, the waterfalls, the rains, the clouds, the winds, and all the beauty of nature, which is actually the world of Beera. Can you imagine a beast actually live in such a beautiful domain? Who can tell? So many surprising contrasts from Mani Ratnam!

After all, RAAVAN is a real masterpiece, a movie full of creativities. It is proved by the unique atmosphere that the film delivers, and also the enthusiastic responses from the audiences. Good job!

This June 18th 2010 you will enter the world of ‘RAAVAN’, in which good and evil is just a thin line to divide. A brilliant masterpiece of Mani Ratnam that will lead you see deeper into a man’s soul. The story itself was inspired by the Indian epic ‘Ramayana’ – the story of Lord Rama’s wife, Sita, who was kidnapped by the demon, Ravana.

Featuring Abhishek Bachchan as Beera Munda (Raavan), Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Ragini Sharma (Seeta), and Vikram Kennedy as Dev Pratap Sharma (Ram), the main roles of ‘RAAVAN’, with Govinda, Ravi Kishan, Priyamani, Nikhil Dwivedi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Manisha Koirala, and Bipasha Basu as supporting casts.

Feel your heartbeat throbbing at the song ‘Beera Beera’, significantly depict the powerful Beera as the leader of the Lal Maati tribe. Mani Ratnam presents Beera as ‘undisputed, unlawful, untamed’ character, while Dev is ‘the punisher, the law, the righteous’, and Ragini ‘the conscience, beauty, music’. These three contrast characteristics are going to face an ‘identity test’ in a dangerous forest.

The story is about a police (Dev) who fell in love with a beautiful traditional dancer Ragini. They got married and then Dev decided to ‘tame’ the lawless small town Lal Maati in North India. Lal Maati’s law laid on a man, their leader, Beera Munda. To tame Lal Maati, Dev knew that he had to defeat Beera first. The battle was furious and drove all Beera, Dev and Ragini into the forest. The forest was confusing and scary – the exact battlefield for their consciences, beliefs, emotions and true identity.

A ‘must-seen’ movie for every heart that belongs to love. Since love changes everything … when evil turns to virtue and virtue seems to become evil, which side will you stand? Let love lead you find the best answer, only in ‘RAAVAN’.

Bollywood Star Akshay Kumar has been giving successful movies one after another and would do the same with his new movie “Houseful” also. Plus there are many more mass appeal masala added with three beauties –Deepika Padukone; Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan – coming with wide open two-piece bikinis, to feast the eyes of fans. Surely there must be contests among the audience as to who is the best of three – in showing what they have!

Added with other stars Ritesh Deshmuk and Arjun Rampal, the movie is full of hilarious comedy of errors throughout the play. The story is not much – the Hero Aarush is depicted as the world’s most unluckiest man, who believes to get rid of his bad luck, he should fall in true love with a beautiful girl. Adding to the fun is his unrelenting lies coming in a row. What follows in his wonderful quest forms the rest of the story. Audiences have proved many times earlier, such comedy films are the best entertainers to see with kids and family. So the oncoming movie “Houseful” will have that board in theaters – both for advertisement and to inform that the seats are full.

Director: Ram Gopal Varma

Cast: Amitabh Bachchhan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Gul Panag, Neetu Chandra, Mohnish Behl

Ram Gopal Varma returns to real world brand of cinema with movie Rann. Based on “breaking news” syndrome that seems to have overtaken certain sections of media. And Ramu’s earlier movies like Satya, Sarkar and Company re- visited India’s underworld through is semi –realism lens of cinematography. Rann trying to rips off the mask off honest reportage from the TRP obsessed television media, that has fallen to present any news – fantasy, mythological, folk, and false too. This film simply reiterates some thing we already knew. But the presentation and story narration is very good. Rann scores in the way of story telling, thriller like and testy. More importantly, it’s the performance that pumps life and blood into the characters you recognize. The legend Vijay Harshwardhan who leads the good channel is an icon. He wants to stick by the truth alone, despite the falling viewer interest.

Ram Gopal Varma not only manages to grab eyeballs from the beginning to end with his taut narration, he orchestrates a veritable treat when it comes to performance from his ensemble cast. Leading the pack is Amitabh Bachchan, lending gravities with his restrained portrayal as the media chief. Vetran Paresh Rawal also revels in creating the picture of true evil. But there are smaller players who walks away with your applause suddep, Rajat Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Mohnish Bahl all are very good in there role.

Vijay Harshvardhan Malik (Amitabh) is the founder of India’s first private news channel. Things change when his rival Amrish Kakkar (Mohnish) launches a channel that delivers baseless entertainment and starts ruling in terms of viewer ship. Vijay’s son uses every trick in the trade to get his dad’s channel back to the top slot… Yes Rann’s a riveting experience!!!

Romance: Heard Dil To Bachchha Hai Ji and loved it Right?? So did we! And the promos of Ishqiya look equally promising. This much-in-the-news film revolves around two thieves caught in a web of crime, passion and deceit. Khalujaan (Naseer) and Babban (Arshad) are on the run from their boss, and seek refuge with an old-fashioned love, Babbban has set his lustful eyes on the young widow. The threat of imminent death forces the thieves on the path of violence. Set in a rural landscape, the film explores basic human emotions. In the film, Vidhya mouths expletives at the drop of a hat. Initially worried about what it would do to her image, she gets into the skin of the rustic role once the camera started rolling. Some folksy numbers are likely to become chartbusters in the coming weeks.
