Barack Obama congratulates Manmohan Singh on winning Lok Sabha elections

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is receiving praise and best wishes from world leaders, on his thumping victory over the Lok Sabha elections held recently.  US President Barack Obama in his congratulatory message on Saturday said the “historic national elections” have “strengthened India’s vibrant democracy and upheld the values of freedom and pluralism” which makes India as an example for the world countries. The successful completion of this largest excise in the world as a democratic country has been singled out for showering praise by the US President.

The spokesman of White House, Robert Gibbs, while releasing the above statement of President Obama, mentioned that the President is looking forward to work further with the Indian Government continuously and enhance the “warm friendship” by means of bilateral relationship between the US and India. He added the achievement of the Indian people to make a decisive mandate in the Lok Sabha elections is noteworthy and America recognizes the significance behind the elections for the people, who remain fundamentally “the strength and foundation of India’s prosperity and democracy”.

The United Progressive Alliance, led by the Indian National Congress has been returned to power once again in the recent elections, with 256 seats in the Lok Sabha, which has 543 members. Dr. Manmohan Singh will be the next Prime Minister of India for another term of 5 years, forming the Government by mobilizing support from Independents and some smaller parties to gain absolute majority. This is the second time in the history of India, after Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, that the same person who held office of Prime Ministership continuously for the full term of 5 years, coming again as Prime Minister.

The entire world is anxiously waiting for the formation of the new Government with hopes that under the able leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh, India will surge ahead in the economic, social and cultural fronts, by keeping up its electoral promises.
