The old man Time born on 1^st January 2009 is going into the oblivion on 31^st December midnight. The new child Time will be born as 2010 at 12.01 early morning of 1^st January. The whole world anxiously looks up to receive the new born, to bring with it – Prosperity; Peace; Pollution-free Environment and individual flourishing economically.

With the end of 2009, we are going into the next decade of this Millennium. Normally every one of us make Resolutions for the New Year – keep them upto the end of January or at best February. After that if somebody reminds about our Resolution – we blink and ask “Resolution? What Resolution? I am too busy now…leave me alone.”

One of my friends told me the other day – she is going to take the 2010 resolution – not to lie. This kindles many interpretations, when I thought of it. Once a clever advocate accosted the accused during cross examination. “Have you stopped beating your wife?” The poor man was puzzled. In a Court of Law, you have to answer either Yes or No.

In this case, he could not answer either way. If he said Yes – it will imply that he just stopped beating, but was doing it earlier, which is an offence. Replied No – he admits he is still continuing the offence.

Likewise when my friend said not to lie – she is very honest I know – it implies that in 2010 she is going to stop the practice. Jokes apart – a best Resolution for 2010 would be “Help ever – Hurt Never”.

This you can follow without any problem easily everyday. As a human being be considerate with fellow human beings – that is enough. Whenever you get a chance to help others – do it spontaneously. Never ever hurt anybody – through your actions or words.

Is this not a New Year Resolution you can follow in 2010 every day? Surely you can.

M.S. Dhoni smiles with ICC Mace

This year 2009 is coming to an end and with it the first decade of this century. Team India has been put under the control of M.S. Dhoni and finished the year 2009 with glory. The latest one day series with Sri Lanka was rounded up to 3-1 lead by the Indians, who won at Cuttack. The last and final match at Feroz Shah Kotla ground of Delhi, was called off – bringing shame on the part of authorities for a worst pitch.

This is the year when India has achieved the Number 1 Test Team status in the World ICC rankings. This ranking came when India captured the 3 Test series against the Lankans as 2-0 on 6^th December.  For the record, India has won 7 out of 10 Test Series with no loss under Dhoni’s captaincy. The prestigious ICC mace was held high by Dhoni as captain of Team India. India is the third Team to achieve this height – only after Australia and South Africa.

This year has been a memorable one for other Indian cricketers as well.  M.S. Dhoni has gone to the top position as No.1 Player for one day games. Gautam Gambhir has been showing consistent performance with the bat. The Indian Opener in Tests has been adjudged the No.1 Player in Test Matches. How beautiful for the Indian team, to have two world No.1 batsmen in their side.

Virendar Shewag, who praises his pair opener Gambhir as the best after Sunil Manohar Gavaskar,  himself is a swash-buckling one day bat and he made the cricket world to look back, when he achieved 293 on his latest one day match against Sri Lanka.

Indian Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has completed 20 years of professional cricket. He has so far played 162 Tests and 440 One Day matches. Scored 12970 Test Runs (43 centuries) and 17394 runs in One Dyers (45 centuries).

Let us congratulate Team India under skipper M.S. Dhoni and wish them all success in 2010 too.

New TV Show "Bingo" by Abhishek Bachchan

It is on the air that Abhishek Bachchan, son of Bollywood’s Big Brother, Amitab Bachchan is going to replace his father on a TV Show. The news has leaked, when a source from the TV channel Colors, told on condition of anonymity, that the younger Bachchan is doing a show with them. The name is “Bingo” or “Saturday Night Bingo”.

Abhishek’s spokes person clarifies that he is not doing any TV Show separately, but the show is a website going on TV through the channel “Colors”. This is a popular Indian Channel showing in many countries. This channel is set to launch in UK on Sky Digital, replacing the present 9XM channel shortly. Abhishek’s side also clarified that presently their production wing – AB Corps Ltd. is not producing any TV show.

What is cooking? Well – the information obtained on research is Amitabh is presently doing a TV Show “Big Boss 3” on Colors. In all probability this will be replaced, after its last episode ended on 26^th December by Abhishek’s show.

Abhishek is running “Aaram Classes” in a special website – www.abhishekaaramclasses.com. This will be telecast by the channel Colors for the entertainment of the people. In these classes Abhishek conducts quizzes and gives away tips to test a person’s laziness quotient (Oh! What a subject by a wealthy film star). The audience is invited to participate and win cash prizes. The quiz show claims that the audience need not use their brains (laziness and brain are opposites – no question) to win cash.

This TV show is likely to drag into it many celebrities too. Additional information is the name “Bingo” sends in a ton of sizzle on the British people, whose craze for playing “Bingo” games is history. Welcome Abhishek  – show them what you have!

Christmas Wishes

Love; Love; and Love – this is the backbone of Christianity. True Christians celebrate Christmas as a Festival of Joy; Co-operation; Co-ordination; Getting Together; and Rejoice as a crowd to express their love and affection towards one and all.

If not possible, don’t miss the Midnight Mass at your Church. A divine atmosphere with music and songs will go a long way in getting back your mental peace.

* Christmas Cards: Sending Christmas Cards is the best way of expressing your love to one and all. Some families send a group photo of all the family members, sign it and send across. You have excellent Christmas Cards freely available online. Make best use of them. The cards can be sent using the Season between Christmas and New Year.

Aamir Khan's Three Idiots

Aamir Khan’s “Three Idiots” has been creating a never before buzz in the film circles of Bollywood. There is an official website for this, which creates suspense by throwing a video quiz  “Aamir Khan” is missing – find him. Aamir Khan has been visiting lately many prominent cities of India, in disguise and creating a lot of publicity.

Sachin Tendulkar was rounded up to promote it still further, by providing clues in a function to the fans to find Aamir. Enough – the hype for the film hitting the screens tomorrow – the Christmas Day has been done. Another bit is  - this film has got the distinction to be the very first released in YouTube, 3 months from now.

What is the story of Three Idiots? Well – three friends – Farhan (Tamil Hero R. Madhavan); Raju (Sharman Joshi); and Ranncchodas Shamalaldas Chanchad alias Rancho (Aamir Khan) build up the story. Average students at the college, the three go about their career choices, romances and what not.

First day in the Engineering College ICE – arguably the best of its kind in India. Students are assembled to hear their Dean – Viru Shastrabuddhe – nickname Virus (played by Boman Irani). He delivers the sermon – “if you are to be successful in life, beat your competitors throughout”. Farhan Qureshi (Madhavan); Raju Rastogi (Joshi) and Ranchhoddas Chhanchad called Rancho (Aamir Khan) are students of this college.

Right from the beginning, Rancho is defiant and often defies rules. His actions infuriate the Dean – raising wise questions not answerable by teachers; not fulfilling assignments that are not to his enjoyment etc. At one point, he even accosts the Dean as to why any of the students of such a prestigious college in the country have no worthy inventions so far.

Rancho further kindles the rage of the Dean by romancing with his daughter Pia (Kareena Kapoor). But whenever Viru tries to teach a lesson to Rancho, he is outsmarted. What baffles the students, including his two friends, is how Rancho gets top rank in the class, although not exerting too much. Farhan quips that it is ironical – when a friend fails in the examination they feel sad, but if he excels to reach the top, they feel worse.

Rancho makes his friends realize that the only reason for his upscale performance is he enjoys his tasks. He induces his two friends to go on their chosen path steadily, without bothering about the end result. The two friends are clearer in their mind as to what their future should be, after the end of the four year course. The institution asks them to pursue victory, whereas Rancho advices them that if they follow the path of excellence, victory would follow – no matter what.

Rancho goes into exile all of a sudden – after guiding his two friends on their path. Where Rancho goes and why he disappears from the friends circle without information?

The movie begins with a gripping start of Farhan and Raju continue their search for Rancho, after a gap of five years. Chattur, who was one among the opposite group in the college, provides the clue for the whereabouts of Rancho. From then on the scenes of the movie wander back and forth – flash back and current. Thus the film gets the audience absorbed from the first scene, closely following the sequences and scenes that are interwoven brilliantly.

The world calls them Three Idiots for their actions of comedy. Rancho’s romance with Pia (Kareena Kapoor) (a good entertainment for the fans would not be possible, without such a lovely young heroine what?) is interrupted by the mentor of Rancho – Viru (Boman Irani). Rancho vanishes suddenly one day – what happens thereafter is the rest of the story.

The movie is a full length comedy and therefore would provide hilarious entertainment to the audience.  The 7 songs played back by Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Shreya Goshal & co. would make the film more popular. Kajol makes a special appearance, as added attraction. The film is directed by Rajkumar Irani and the music is scored by Shantanu Moitra.

The movie is said to be adopted from the novel, Five Point Someone, by Chetan Bhagat, who says the director got his consent to the final film script. Starting in July 2008, the film was shot at Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ladakh and Simla. Gossip is this film will take Aamir Khan to the next level in Bollywood. Aal izz Well!

India-Sri Lanka 4th ODI is crucial for both teams

Will the Indians, who lead 2-1 the India-Sri Lanka series, win the 4^th One Day Match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata tomorrow? This is the million-dollar question in the minds of cricket-crazy Indian fans. Let us analyze the situation.

Poor Dhoni, the Indian Captain, (retaining the first place in world ICC rankings) has missed the 3^rd ODI at Cuttack. He is suffering the two-match fine imposed on him by the authorities. Frequent consultation with his team mates, when the 2^nd ODI was in progress at Nagpur, (which eventually was lost by the Indians) cost him dearly for slow over rates. So he can not play at Kolkata also.

But the make-shift captain, Sehwag led the team brilliantly at Cuttack, to win the match and capture a 2-1 lead in the 5 match series. He can be reasonably expected to pull the trick again. Yuvaraj Singh, the blaster of runs audaciously, is also out for the 4^th and 5^th matches, nursing a finger-injury. Virat Kohli or Dinesh Karthik may replace him and have to shoulder the burden of scoring well.

It is going to be Gautam Gambir (promoted to top rank as Test batsman in ICC world ranking) and the legendry Sachin Tendulkar, holding the key for winning or losing at Eden Gardens. Sachin is always the favorite of this ground and we can hope for a sizzling performance by him.

Looking at the other side – Sri Lanka – it all depends on T. Dilshan – who is in excellent form this season. He smashes the bat fiercely to scare the Indian bowlers. Had he not been contained by Ashish Nehra at 41 runs, the result at Cuttack would have been anybody’s guess.

Sri Lankan skipper Sangakkara is a worried man – his bowlers Dilhara Fernando and Muthiah Muralidharan are not there; absence of Angelo Mathews made a big difference at Cuttack and he will not be there at Kolkata as well; and added to that Mahela Jayawardane is running a lean patch. It looks Sanath Jayasura, rested for the last two matches will be back.

All in all a scintillating One Day match is in the offing at Eden Gardens for sure.

Brittany Murphy, the famous American actress passes away

The famous American Actress – Brittany Murphy – the heroin of run away hit film “Clueless” passed away at Los Angeles. The coroner’s office announced that she was pronounced dead, when the 32-years old actress was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

According to news story published first in TMZ.com, on Sunday morning, the actress had suffered cardiac arrest and there was no possibility to revive her. The cause of death can be anything, since the possibilities for a cardiac arrest are a lot. It was reported that her mother found her lying unconscious in the bath room.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department is reported to have received a 911 emergency call around 8 pm on Saturday night, from the home of Brittany, where she was living with her husband, Simon Moniack.

There was wide-spread speculation on the suspected excessive usage of drugs by Brittany. One can remember the “Saturday Night Live” Weekend Update recently, where there was a subtle remark about the matter.

According to her publicist, Nicole Pema, who went on to say in a bereave-statement “In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy” Brittany had on hand 5 movies currently.

Brittany was born in Atlanta. Started acting when she was 9 years old in regional theatre. When she was just 13, started her appearance on television commercials, aided by a manager she signed with. Her appearances on popular TV shows such as “Murphy Brown” and Parkar Lewis Can’t Lose” earned her the limelight, to act in her breakthrough film “Clueless” in 1995.

Brittany Murphy has been named in – FHM’s 10 Sexiest Women List as well as Maxim’s Hot 100.

Christmas on 25th December - why?

Christmas – the grand festival of millions of Christians the world over, on 25^th December every year. This year it falls coming Friday. But why 25^th December? Why not some other date? If you want answer for this question, you have to travel back in history.

Romans were the earliest race of Christianity. They were worshipping the Sun God. There were two festivals on 25^th December – natalis solis invicti – “birth of the unconquered sun”; the birthday of Mithras – “Sun of Righteousness” worshipped by Roman soldiers.

You will be interested to know that way back in the first three centuries of Christianity, there was no Christmas – what the world today celebrates as the Birth Day of Jesus Christ. Birth days were for Pagan Gods as noted by Origen – one of the Church leaders – who opposed celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. Celebrations related to the baptism of Christ Jesus on 6^th January. Even today old churches of North America celebrate Christmas on 6^th January only.

So the Roman Emperor Constantine declared Christianity as the favorite religion of Romans and Christmas is celebrated on 25^th December – in 336 A.D. In the 16^th century Pope Gregory devised a new Gregorian Calendar, as opposed to the Julian Calendar, all along been followed by the world. According to this Gregorian calendar, December 25^th is accepted to be the Birth Day of Jesus Christ.

Some argue – according to Bible Mother Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem amidst snow ( December being the Winter month) where Jesus Christ was born. On 25^th March (a special day for Christians called Annunciation Day) Mary was told that she will have a special baby – the Jesus. Exactly 9 months later on 25^th of December, there is every possibility of the child Jesus to have been born.

Whatever the reason, today’s generation celebrates Christmas on 25^th December, when at the midnight there is a Mass of Christ conducted in all the Churches. Christ Mass has become Christmas.
